FACS classes

Mrs. Kuper is still plugging along teaching all of the FACS classes. She is doing a fine job and will make a good teacher when she graduates.
Middle school students are finishing up their pillows and will begin the foods and nutrition unit. Make sure you have your apron by the end of next week.
High School FACS class is finishing up a personal finance unit today.
Foods and Nutrition class is in the middle of a nutrition unit. Next week we will be preparing a holiday meal.

Fashion Design

Mrs. Kuper, our student teacher started a new unit with the fashion design students today. This will end with them making a pair of pajama pants or shorts. Patterns have been ordered and students should have their material by next Monday.

Foods and Nutrition Classes

Students in Foods and Nutrition began a new unit today on meal planning. The class was taught by Mrs. Mary Ann Kuper, a student teacher from SEMO finishing up her degree in Family & Consumer Sciences Education. She will be with us through the rest of second quarter.

High School FACS class

High School FACS students will be finishing up our unit on child development this week. They will begin taking home the Baby Think It Over Simulator today. After the test on this unit, Mrs. Mary Ann Kuper will begin teaching their class. She is a student teacher from SEMO who is finishing up her degree in Family & Consumer Sciences Education. She will be with us until the end of second quarter.

Middle School Classes

A new quarter brings a new group of students to Middle School FACS class. This quarter, Mrs. Mary Ann Kuper will be student teaching in our classroom. She will be teaching the whole class this quarter. Students have already begun learning about heredity and environment- the two factors that work together to make them unique. We will soon begin our child development unit and students will take the babies home. Be looking for permission forms to come home later this week.

Fashion Design

Students in Fashion Design class are working on their projects and notebooks. Don't forget that we can do custom embroidery work for you-- we have several designs with wildcats on them. We can also do Mom and Grandma shirts for Christmas. (Dad and Grandpa too!) It make take us a few weeks to get them done so get your orders in now.

Foods and Nutrition Classes

Students in foods class are learning about kitchen and dining areas. We have looked at design, tableware and place settings. We will learn about appliances and utensils next week. The students are looking forward to learning to cook and we are almost there!

High School FACS class

Students in the high school FACS classes are doing a unit on families. We are studying the different family types, responsibilities and roles. Next week we will begin a parenting unit. On Wed. Mr. Roy the health educator will present a program on pregnancy and bring the empathy belly for students to try on to see (at least a little bit) what it is like to be pregnant!

Middle School Classes

Students are finishing up a foods unit. We will make home made biscuits on Tuesday. Be sure and bring your apron to school!

Fashion Design

Students in the fashion design class have learned how to use our embroidery machines. They are busy working on projects for a grade. They can also make shirts for people in the community. We have some neat wildcat designs. If you would like to see them stop by Mrs. Lipe's room sometime. The cost for most sweatshirts is between $20 - $25.

High School FACS class

Students in the high school FACS classes have been learning how to apply for a job. We have spent several days learning the correct ways to fill out job applications. Students are now taking some assessments to see how their interests match up to different jobs. They will be doing some research finding out information about 5 different careers they may be interested in. Parents you may want to check out the website we are using- missouriconnections.org It has some really neat information!

Middle School Classes

Students in the middle school FACS classes are busy working on their pillows. They are doing a great job! Tuesday will be the last day of class time we spend working on them. I will stay after school on Tuesday until 4:00 for any student who has not finished their pillow and would like time to work on it.

HS FACS classes

Students in HS FACS classes will begin a new unit on careers next week. One thing we will be doing is filling out job applications. Students may bring in up to 2 blank job applications for extra credit by Sept. 17.

Middle School Classes

Students are having fun?? taking care of the babies! But, don't forget that as soon as we finish this unit we are going to do our sewing unit. Students should have their sewing supplies by the end of next week. They were given a list in class of what they should have.

FCCLA news

Students who want to join FCCLA (Family Career & Community Leaders of America) need to have their dues ($15) paid in order to attend the next meeting. Those wanting to run for office be sure and see Mrs. Lipe! Requirements to join FCCLA include having at least a semester of one of the FACS classes. This could include a middle school class.
The school year is off to a great start! Classes are moving along well. Fashion Design classes are learning to use the embroidery machines and will soon be able to take orders for shirts! Middle school FACS classes are taking care of the Baby think it Over simulators and will soon start their sewing projects. Foods and Nutrition class are evaluating their own diet and will be learning how to make changes to be healthier. High School FACS classes will soon be learning about career preparation and what they need to do to find their first job.
